Language

Four dialectal groups can be recognized in the Yakut language although they are mutually understandable for speakers of the different Yakut dialects.

The first is Central and speakers can be found in the areas along the mid-Lena, Aldan and Amga river basins. Vilyuy is another which is spoken in areas along the Vilyuy river and the Northwest dialect can be found in areas west of the Lena river, beyond the Vilyuy districts and as far as the Taimyr peninsula & Evenk Autonomous Region. The final dialect is the Northeast.
